Telling a story comes easy to Dave Allgood..."stand back and let the story do it's thing." That's basically it. Dave believes everybody has a story and a story can be found in just about everything around us. Dave didn't start out in Radio or TV. It was not finishing college and a wandering spirit that started to shape Dave's outlook on life and of course drinking way too much most of the time. A self admission that Dave, now a Recovering Alcoholic of almost 3 years, embraces and talks about freely on his radio show. But it was that drinking that led Dave to do a variety of jobs including: Commercial Fisherman in Dutch Harbor, Alaska, A 5 year stint with US Airways, TV Cameraman, Reporter and Anchor, several Radio jobs, Carpenter, Actor/Comedian 'wannabe' in NYC, Waiter & Bartender, just to name a few. Dave says if anything good came out of drinking it was his varied job experience... " When you get fired, you're inspired to work wherever you can". Dave really found his niche in story telling in a small town in Texas at a start-up CBS-TV affiliate. Dave was responsible for a 'feature' story a day. Writing, editing and producing a story a day was in Dave's Words " interesting and interesting". The lesson, Dave said, was that life is about persistence and perseverance. Again Simple. Dave's 'Allgood News' Stories echo that theme which can be found throughout that people with motivating and uplifting stories seem to have gone through, not around, their personal obstacles. Dave grew up the son of several step father's (4 of them! All United States Marines) and one Spunky Mother, Nancy Rose. Nancy, Dave's best friend, passed away five years ago, a victim of cancer. Dave attributes his sense of humor and story telling ability to his mother whom he says was the "funniest person he has ever met." Dave also says jokingly that " I never knew I had a different dad, they all looked alike and said 'Semper Fi'. I just thought everone changed their last name every four years. I thought it was a leap year thing..." Dave has lived on both coasts and even overseas in Japan for 3 years. Dave says he is finally getting 'grounded' and finding a home on the Western Slope. Dave is an avid Hiker and Biker and can be found scaling Mt. Garfield 2-3 times a week and biking the Colorado National Monument "anytime he can!" Dave lives in Grand Junction with his buddy of ten years 'Kramer', an old 'Block Cat' that adopted him in Memphis
