Heavenly...is what Geraldine Earthman might just say about her job with the Grand Junction Police Department. She gets to drive a company car...collar bad guys and work with some 'kool kats'...the hip lingo...meaning groovy partners. Geraldine not only works with her partners, she feeds them, rubs their bellies and even trains them! Perfect! Oh...and she will tell you that her partners?...They are her babies and their uniform is more hair than hats ...and their badge? That would be one of honor. Those partners sound pretty unique and ...not kool kats at all... but krafty K-9s. One in particular is of the German persuasion...Oldo. After a distinguished 28-year career with the Police Department, that's 4 human years, the 'Crazy Hyena' is retiring. At just 9 years old...Oldo bears the scars of desperate criminals who have no regard for police or an officer chomping down on their arm...or other assorted body part. Almost drowned by one thug...and injuries to his arm...and not quite the lung capacity he use to have...Oldo plans to head to that sunny retirement village ... conveniently located at the 'Boca Vista Earthman'...aka. Geraldine's House. Couch surfing...barking at butterflies, playing with his 'wooba'...and probably running his sleep...Oldo is set to enjoy the fruits of a long career as an intense and transplanted Cop Dog. Oldo came here just over 4 years ago...and hit the ground running. A more intense background...than Geraldine's current 'up and coming' partners...Oldo brings his special personality to what is a very serious job...fighting crime.

(GJPD Officer Geraldine Earthman and Her Partner Oldo.)
Sad...that's what Geraldine calls a goodbye to her car-time with Oldo and the adventure and danger that comes with going out on every 'Call'. She also says Oldo...has helped her with her Waistline...he is a 'barker' and just too intense for the Drive-thru of local fast food joints. Who knew...Oldo...a German Diet Guru?
The reality of a Best Friend as a Partner is that those 4-legged friends can be killed...and they just don't live as long as we do. Longevity is a shortcoming ...thanks to Mother Nature. But realities make that bond between trainer and K-9...turn into a more intense Partner relationship...and in the end a condensed friendship.... and finally a caregiver...

(Oldo pauses just long enough for a little lov'in from Geraldine.)
Would Geraldine say Love? Professionally probably not? Privately? Maybe not too heavy of a word when it comes to feelings for her partner ...how bout undying devotion? Because when you know that your partner will unconditionally head straight into danger for you...that’s heavy stuff man!...and the stuff that this relationship is made of.
So...Schonen Dank Oldo! That's 'Many Thanks!'
Here is Oldo's Allgood News.
