Ruth Helen Margaret Karn is a busy lady! At 89, she runs around the Chipeta Elementary Kitchen like a woman inspired. I had to chase her down to get this interview! Ruth, loves life and loves being busy and at the tender age of just under 90 ( she turns the big 9-0 in January)...she credits her longevity to keeping current with the kids and not a lot of down time. If you ever wanted proof that we are living longer and stronger...Ruth Helen Margaret Karn is just that! She's the Energizer Bunny! Hard to believe she retired from her first job in 1962! She worked on the first Satellite that went up into space...But Ruth Got bored and took a few odd jobs and finally landed at Chipeta Elementary 12 years ago! Popular with the staff and the hungry kids...Ruth says " I love to see 'em come in as Pre-Schoolers and leave in the 5th grade..." And the way she's going ...a lot of kids will be graduating who know Miss Karn. Ruth was Married for more than 30 years to a Marine she met while serving in WWII...Ruth enjoys her Grandchildren, her dogs and cats...and a little down time. The secret to her energy? She says I don't smoke, I keep up on current events ...and, I like my Bailey's Irish cream every know and then. Go figure!
