Ana Elliott - Flying the Flag

Ana Elliott is curious. So much so, she enlisted the help of her husband to see just how many...flags were flying on houses along the road where she lives. She knew there were a bunch, but her husband? He didn't understand why it mattered really, but Ana pressed on and they counted. And, on D 1/2 road? There were 30 to 35 flags flying on any given day? Pretty impressive Ana thought for a small neighborhood road on the Western Slope and no particular holiday. Not just flags ...to Ana? Patriotism. She was so inspired she bought a 25 foot flag pole, so her flag and her patriotism, could be seen from the road. Ana getting emotional talking in the studio about her love of this country. It seems the flag has always been a part of her life. Her father a Navy man met her mother while on duty in Brazil. And it was her mother who instilled in little Ana... how lucky she was to be in America. The Stars and Stripes run deep in Ana who would tell you she's just an average American ...with an above average love of her country and wants and hopes everyone else to share that passion. "Freedoms not Free" she told me several times. No, no it's not. And uniquely passionate and proud Americans like Ana are reminders of just how good we have it here in America.
