Chris Hanks CMU Head Coach For some people dreams are just that...a synapse moment... something that happens overnight and fizzles into a new day. Clint Kinney had to laugh when he saw the bumper sticker, WTF
February, 2012
Clint Kinney had to laugh when he saw the bumper sticker, WTF. Not because it’s an 3 letter acronym of exclamation and excitement in the texting and tweeting world …but because of the context it was used, not ‘What the F%$#...’ but ‘Welcome to Fruita’…the town where Clint is the City Manager. That started the marketing wheels turning and so Clint decided to pitch WTF to his town peeps ASAP. Thinking the naughty acronym might transfer nicely to his hip mountain biking town that is also known for its dinosaurs and one of the most unique festivals in the world…Mike, the Headless Chicken celebration.
So he posted the idea on the City’s website and the feedback? It’s run the gauntlet. Hundreds of Emails and lots of calls for and against the urban 3 letter term for surprise. Mixed reviews but lots of Buzz about the a little slogan with a lot of punch,
Clint says “that’s why you ask the people and the tourism board…”
Clint’s not a bettin man but he did hint which direction the City of Fruita might go. To find out ...you have to listen to the Allgood News.
