Any woman will tell you that going through a pregnancy with all the help in the world is still a monumental experience. But try going it alone?...When your best friend and husband is halfway around the world?! That's exactly what Kathleen Chandler is doing right now. The 24 year-old mother of a five year-old and now ...another one on the way is experiencing just that. 34 weeks pregnant and still smiling, at least in the studio today recording this interview. The young mother not talking so much about herself or what she's going through,but what her husband is going through and how proud she is of him. You see, Kathleen married her best friend from Fruita Monument High School. And Now? that best Friend, Jacob Chandler, is a deployed United States Marine. Kathleen and Jacob met when they were just 14 and have been great friends since. But, marriages, like the Military, require sacrifices. Nothing about this couples relationship has been traditional, from the way they got married to how they met. It is a military love story and a testament to love, distance and the power of commitment. Kathleen and Jacob have already named their unborn son, Hunter Jacob. And Dad? he will not be able to see his new boy until 3 months after he is born. Kathleen says Jacob is upset he won't be home for the birth, but she hopes to Skype from the delivery room or at least video tape it.
Kathleen says she is proud and honored to be a Marine Wife, and she understands what comes with it. But, she also understands how much her husband has given up so far in their early marriage to be a part of the Marine Corp. And she says her husband? " He's a true hero...
