Will Cox just wanted to be a Navy Seal. Those amazingly tough military men who go where no other military personnel go. Into the fire while everybody else is running from the fire. Daring rescue missions, risky covert operations and dicey solo, Lone Ranger operations with no guarantee of return. Will was in the heart of the grinding training when his dream came crashing into reality, and the ground. Competition can be tough for a spot on the Elite Military Force, and competition took a criminal turn, four stories up, two men battling and dangling by ropes. What happened next...
Darrell and Victoria Rule just looked so cute when I saw them sitting at Glade Park Store eating ice cream sandwiches. I was there getting a little water, in the middle of a bike ride...they were just going for a ride. Conversation started...and who knew? Aside from being happily married for more than 35 years...it is flowers and fun that seem to be the earthy glue that keep these two inseparable. Oh, and the fact that they love each other and they love to just get in the car and just 'go!' So the flowers, those would be Irises and these...
Aubrie Blair has a sweet flair for things that fly in the air. Okay, that's probably a little too fun and flowery language to describe a young girl who takes on challenges with a smile and a great attitude. Aubrie graduated Central High School here in Grand Junction, Colorado less that 8 years ago ...now she's back and about to be the Head Recruiter at the Navy Station. Her goal is simple ...describe the wonderful experiences she's had with Navy and the opportunities she's had to see the world. She spent a lot of time on the USS Enterprise,...
Jackson is a cool kid...well I say kid, he is a young man trapped in a 17 year-old body. Well spoken, cerebral with a caveat of guy going forward but still enjoying the idea of just being a high school teen. Jackson called me, indirectly...about his Eagle Scout project ( he's collecting old flags and retiring them, information how you can help him is below) ...but after about a minute...I knew this was a story about Jackson...not what he's doing , but how he thinks and does things. Dressed in a business attire, the tall slim Jackson looked...
Paul Cruz is all about the buzz, hum and pop! Bending glass and playing with fire ...is just another day at the office for this artist who's tools include 600 degree flames and capturing gases! Design, science, eye-candy and flair... Paul Cruz does all of this with each piece he conceives and then presents it to the world!...you see ...Paul is a Neon Artist. He takes what's in his mind and then turns it into bright neon ...one tube at a time. How does he do it? Well ...think tattoo artist meets Mr. Science. Taking a noble gas and nibbling...

Priscilla Tell, Bob Tell, & Tony Quezada: ACME Silver Plating
Tony Quezada is a happy fella. He takes things that aren’t so shiny and makes them pop and sparkle. But it’s his personality that lends itself to shine and glitter. The 38 year-old Montrose man is just …happy. You can hear it in his voice, his attitude and even in even see it in his eyes. Affable, approachable, available and a quick study, that is Tony.
You see, it was 14 years ago…Tony was driving a forklift at that big candy company off the main strip there in Montrose…he was bored and wanted a change. He knew, surely… life had to offer a little more of a challenge…he wanted something different. So, he took a chance. Leaving a big company, benefits and security for a new career he had no experience in. But that’s how life is …leaps of faith are often rewarded with happiness that leads to personal prosperity. Peace they say, is found in work that is anything but a frown. Shiny. Of course there was more to Tony’s story than just …Shining things. Okay…
It was an ad in the paper in 1998 …looking for a plating person. What is that you ask? That’s what tony said. So he applied to the company…the company being ACME Silver Plating, consisting of two employees. Yup, I said two employees who happened to also be married …they were and are Bob and Priscilla Tell.
Tony, still not sure…but after that interview …he waited…then kept calling the two back to see if they were going to hire him. Persistence paid off. Tony got the job still having no idea how to plate anything…but Bob’s patience and his need for a good apprentice and Tony’s great attitude and willingness was the perfect combination.
That little shop in Montrose you see…does some pretty big and prestigious things…like plating for the Grammy Awards, championship belts and even shining up movie props. Matter of fact…the folks from the upcoming Movie “The Lone Ranger”, starring Johnny Depp…called Tony and Acme and asked them to silver plate some pistols and bullets. Tony said he shined them up nice and even twirled them a couple of times.
Anything that can be plated? They do it…and Tony? Well 14 years later…you’d think it’s his first day on the job. Giddy and ready to GO! That’s Tony Quezada. Listen to Tony talk about how he got the job and about life today… in this edition of the Allgood News.
