Will-ing and No Excuses

Will Cox just wanted to be a Navy Seal. Those amazingly tough military men who go where no other military personnel go. Into the fire while everybody else is running from the fire. Daring rescue missions, risky covert operations and dicey solo, Lone Ranger operations with no guarantee of return. Will was in the heart of the grinding training when his dream came crashing into reality, and the ground. Competition can be tough for a spot on the Elite Military Force, and competition took a criminal turn, four stories up, two men battling and dangling by ropes. What happened next...

Darrell only has Irises for Victoria

Darrell and Victoria Rule just looked so cute when I saw them sitting at Glade Park Store eating ice cream sandwiches. I was there getting a little water, in the middle of a bike ride...they were just going for a ride. Conversation started...and who knew? Aside from being happily married for more than 35 years...it is flowers and fun that seem to be the earthy glue that keep these two inseparable. Oh, and the fact that they love each other and they love to just get in the car and just 'go!' So the flowers, those would be Irises and these...

Aubrie Blair's Flair for the Navy

Aubrie Blair has a sweet flair for things that fly in the air. Okay, that's probably a little too fun and flowery language to describe a young girl who takes on challenges with a smile and a great attitude. Aubrie graduated Central High School here in Grand Junction, Colorado less that 8 years ago ...now she's back and about to be the Head Recruiter at the Navy Station. Her goal is simple ...describe the wonderful experiences she's had with Navy and the opportunities she's had to see the world. She spent a lot of time on the USS Enterprise,...

Action Jackson LaDuke

Jackson is a cool kid...well I say kid, he is a young man trapped in a 17 year-old body. Well spoken, cerebral with a caveat of guy going forward but still enjoying the idea of just being a high school teen. Jackson called me, indirectly...about his Eagle Scout project ( he's collecting old flags and retiring them, information how you can help him is below) ...but after about a minute...I knew this was a story about Jackson...not what he's doing , but how he thinks and does things. Dressed in a business attire, the tall slim Jackson looked...

Eric Landis owns All Sound Designs in Grand Junction, CO

Mountain Bikers, good ones…usually don’t have time for much else. Healing from dramatic crashes…going from race to race, making sure their bike(s) are in tip top shape and training…lots of training. So how does 31 year-old,  Eric Landis do it? I mean the Mountain Biking part is one thing…that’s impressive, but …how does he do it? It being…running a successful, now nationally known Home Electronics business, juggle a successful marriage, 2 cute kids and oh yeah…that professional Mountain biking career …all with under just 3 decades under his belt on this planet? Truth is I don’t know. I talked to Eric in the studio to find out about this Cerebral, engaging young man who feels the need for speed and …uh…changing the the world…one house at a time.

Eric owns All Sound Designs here in Grand Junction. But his Touch free, High-tech automation is spreading its tentacles across the Nation….People are taking a look at what Eric is doing right here on the Western Slope. What am I talking about? Basically…everything from your thermostat, to lights, to music ….and anything you can imagine will initiate the moment you walk into a room and then ‘power-down’ the moment you leave a room. All of this simply programmed in to a system in your house that can be activated by an App on your phone. House of the Future stuff. But Eric says his goal is two-fold; to make Home automation accessible and affordable to  everyone and  to create huge energy savings. And that’s exactly what he’s doing. How do I know…well, I don’t need to know. Eric has recently been recognized by some of the biggest names in the Industry. Recently winning  ‘Electric House’s’ 2012 Electronic House of the Year.  A house he designed in Palisade …featured on the National Magazine’s front Page. Other awards and accolades  continue to pour in.  Eric says that’s great…basically it’s validation for what he’s been doing all along.

Sitting here with the boyish-faced, red haired Eric…his eyes light up each time I ask him a question…and I can almost tell he has to measure his thoughts and excitement and electronic verbiage ….so I will understand…this my friends is nothing but a great mind…trying to make sense of all the ideas that swirl around in a brain buzzing with ideas.  Eric continues to plan for the Future of his Business…All Sound Designs. Designing amazing home systems and …now folks are seeekiing him out…so consulting may be in his future…and so will a fast trip down a mountain and chasing kids…but busy and brainy and busting with ideas…that’s just how Eric likes it.
